(*) Whaler is the only ship that you can't build or buy, but instead you can only capture in the open sea. Snow, Corvette, Sloop of war, Barquentine I captured a bunch of ships and put them in large ports Take all the crew off of them, and then go into open world and attack a port with greeen cargo, hit the restart and then open world to the ports with your cargo ships and buy the cargo, then attack a port with the red cargo, go back and sell all your cargo and make money. Table describing maps and available ships Some Civil ships (such as Xebec, Barque, Barquentine, Flute) can be captured earlier, in special random mission "Slave ships" (green icon on map, unlocked after purchase of Map of Windward Islands). you can immediately (even at beginning of game) chase enemy tiny Sloops with your huge HMS Victory if you want :-) Premium ships can be bought for real money at any time, so e.g. Be warned that more unlocked maps means increased difficulty of enemies! The best ships will be spawned if you discover Panama Coast (discovering remaining regions doesn’t affect the ship spawning). If you own more maps there is more probability that better ship will be spawned. Ships (which you can encounter in the open world), blueprints and treasure maps depends on how many maps you own.
